Course "steps towards community"
People often ask us, "Do you know of a community nearby where I can go to live?" Often our answer has to be, "No there is no community near you, and if there is one, there is often no room for new members, it is full".
So it is a good idea to find people who are interested and to follow together this course. The purpose of the course is to give an answer to the question, "Is community living for me?"
The length of the course: five evenings and a visit to a community. A friday and a saturday or two saturdays is also possible. Teachers: Drs. Gijs van den Brink, Drs. Wim Dorsman.
Costs: 75,- Euro per person including articles and exercises. When you are living outside The Netherlands it is difficult to attend the course, but please discuss your wishes by sending a message to Wim Dorsman wdorsman@elim.nl
Workgroup and platform
Six communities have formed a workgroup which has as goal the stimulation and support of evangelical communities. Every year it organises a congress for people who are interested in community life.
Also the workgroup gets together for a monthly meeting to study or for sharing. In 2011 the members of the workgroup are from the following communities: Elim (in Doorn), In de Vrijheid (in Wemeldinge), Zendings-diaconessen in Amerongen, the Schuilplaats in 't Harde, Spe Gaudentes (OZ 100 in Amsterdam) and Timon. About 35 communities are related to one another in this platform.
Documentation
Documentation consists of the list of names, a library and bibliography with more than 500 titles of books. In the bibliography there is a rich treasure with books over many subjects such as descriptions of communities in the Netherlands and in other countries, theology and sociology.
